The ceiling panels had arrived. The mood? Optimistic. The goal? Transform Wilko from \u201cfunctional camper\u201d to \u201crolling boutique hotel with attitude.\u201d Easy, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccf Measure Twice, Curse Thrice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We started with the noble task of cutting three acoustic panels to fit Victor\u2019s roof. Sounds simple. It wasn\u2019t. There was measuring. Re-measuring. Cardboard templates. Rejected cardboard templates. And a soundtrack of curse words that would make a pirate blush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The van roof, it turns out, is not a rectangle. It\u2019s a shape best described as \u201cchaotic origami.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Installing the panels and light strips required:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • One can of spray glue with a vendetta<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Paula valiantly held the panels aloft, barely keeping them up while I glued, screwed, and wired like a caffeinated squirrel. Every time I reached for a tool, gravity tried to reclaim the ceiling. Every time Paula adjusted her stance, the panel shifted like it was trying to escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We were one step away from inventing a new yoga pose: \u201cDesperate Ceiling Reach with Swearing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    After two long days, we were covered in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Every strand of hair had become a glue trap. My eyebrows were stuck to my fringe. Paula\u2019s ponytail had developed structural integrity. We looked like we\u2019d been attacked by a rogue arts-and-crafts cupboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      But finally, gloriously, it was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We flicked the switch. Victor lit up like a luxury spaceship. Mood lighting. Ceiling panels. A vibe that said, \u201cYes, I camp\u2014but I also host cocktail parties.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Absolutely worth it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Now that the ceiling\u2019s sorted, it\u2019s time to finish the look:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Proper seat covers (no more \u201cmystery stain chic\u201d)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Steering wheel cover (preferably one that doesn\u2019t smell like old socks)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Front mats (because muddy trainers deserve a red carpet)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        And then\u2014the pi\u00e8ce de resistance<\/em>\u2014bull bars<\/strong>. Or as I call them: Wilko’s jawline enhancement<\/em>. Add a light bar and he\u2019ll look like he\u2019s ready to star in a post-apocalyptic action film. Menacing. Majestic. Expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        So that\u2019s for later. For now, Victor\u2019s looking well posh. And we\u2019re looking like we\u2019ve just survived a glue-based war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
