Wilko\u2019s woodwork had seen things. It had the haunted look of a pirate ship that\u2019d been through one too many storms. Splinters? More than a pine forest in a blender. Time for a makeover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We flirted with red. We flirted with black. But in the end, dark grey<\/strong> won our hearts. Sleek. Moody. The kind of colour that says, \u201cYes, I camp\u2014but make it fashion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Next up: the exposed metal. You know the kind\u2014cold, shiny, and about as inviting as a dentist\u2019s tray. We covered it with fabric, transforming Wilko from \u201cabandoned scrapyard\u201d to \u201cScandi-chic studio apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n We even made custom fabric cupboard fronts<\/strong>. No more open-shelf chaos. Now it\u2019s all clean lines and concealed snacks. If IKEA did campervans, this would be their flagship model.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Why have one fridge when you can have two? We installed a second fridge in the garage<\/strong>\u2014on wheels, no less. Perfect for beach days, road trips, or hiding emergency snacks from each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some might call it overkill. We call it preparedness<\/strong>. Because you never know when you\u2019ll need ten bags of crisps and half a watermelon. Or when Paula will declare a sudden prosecco emergency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Now for the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance: glow lighting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ten metres of LED strips. Under the van. Along the awning. I spent hours crawling around like a budget electrician, stripping wires and muttering things like \u201cThis better not short out the fridge.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n But oh, was it worth it. Wilko now looks like a spaceship landing at a disco party<\/strong>. Mood lighting? Check. Colour-changing options? Absolutely. Romantic stargazing? Sorted. Impromptu rave in a lay-by? Don\u2019t tempt us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We even considered a fog machine. But decided against it\u2014mostly because we didn\u2019t want to be mistaken for a UFO or accidentally summon the fire brigade.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re not done yet. Oh no. We\u2019ve got acoustic roof panels<\/strong> and new ceiling lights<\/strong> on order. Because nothing says \u201cadventure-ready\u201d like a van that\u2019s soundproofed and softly lit like a boutique hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wilko\u2019s transformation is well underway. He\u2019s still the same lovable beast underneath\u2014but now he\u2019s got a bit of swagger. A bit of sparkle.
